Getting your car prepped for cold weather
Generally speaking, you’ll want to make sure that all of your cars general maintenance such as oil changes and tire rotations are all taken care of when driving into fall. When you take your car in, make sure to get a multi-point inspection to assess any possible problems that cold weather may further magnify. There are a few things you’ll want to give special attention to, so check out the list below to learn more!
- Inspect your wiper blades | A good pair of wiper blades help tremendously. Your wiper blades go through a lot, and you should replace them seasonally for obstruction-free vision through your windshield.
- Check your tires | Chances are high, down here, that we won’t be dealing with any snow, but it makes sense to check your tires for balding or defects. The increased rain in winter gives us plenty of slippery surfaces to deal with on the road.
- Check your brakes | Much like your tires, damaged or old brakes can cause major problems when it comes to inclement weather out on the roads. Make sure to get these checked and/or repaired before it gets cold!
- Check the lights | One of our least favorite things about fall and winter are the short days. In fall, it’s more and more possible that you will be driving at night, so take time to check your car’s interior and exterior lights. You don’t want to get caught out in the dark on this issue!
