Having a Key Fob to lock and unlock a vehicle is a modern necessity that has become the norm for us. But what happens if it stops working one day, or if it isn’t working as well as it used to? We’ve got some advice on how to fix poor key fob range.

What to do if you need to Fix Poor Key Fob Range

Have you noticed your key fob not working right? Basically, if you need to be right next to your vehicle to lock and unlock it, then it’s not really doing its job properly. You’ll also want to get it fixed up in case you ever have to hit the alarm button on the key fob!

The first thing you should check is whether the battery is dead or dying. This can be pretty easily done by opening it up and inserting the new battery in. Is it still not working? It’s probably safe to assume that the remote could be damaged. Do you have a second key fob? If you do, check to see if it works. Otherwise, you can also pick a new one up and give it a shot.

How to Program a New Ford Key Fob

  • Enter vehicle and close all doors

If this step doesn’t work (or if your second key fob also isn’t working correctly) then the issue could be with the transceiver inside of your vehicle.
