We will be retiring next year and would like to purchase an ultra light trailer and new vehicle to haul it. We had a Ford Escape in the past a like the vehicle.
We will be purchasing a new vehicle next year also. We are reviewing hauling capacity and fuel consumption and looking for recommendations. Pricing is also a consideration.
I purchased a 2017 ford escape SE 2.0 litre it can the 3500 lbs so if my trailers GVWR is 3850 can I still have say three passengers who weigh 200lbs each and then haul my 3850 without worrying?????

Thank you for sharing this helpful information
NO! the tow capacity includes the weight of camper and cargo in car. If the tow capacity is 3500 and your trailers gvwr exceeds that then NO you cant pull it with the vehicle you mentioned. You need at least 4500 or more. By the time you load it and your tow vehicle and occupants you will kill your transmission.
