2018 Ford F-150 diesel

2018 will be first time Ford offers a diesel engine for the F-150 lineup

2018 F-150 diesel engine performance specs release date

Year after year, the Ford F-150 continues to blow away the competition with some incredible innovation. A couple of years ago, Ford starting using high-strength, military-grade aluminum to build the truck. The resulting improvements to handling and efficiency scores have put the rest of the full-size pickup truck class on notice. For the 2018 model year, Ford is changing the game again by introducing the company’s first diesel engine for the F-150 platform. The brand new turbocharged, 3.0-liter, Power Stroke V-6 diesel engine will be mated to the automaker’s 10-speed automatic transmission, a segment-first. Houston Ford expects the first 2018 F-150 trucks to be available in the showroom later this fall. The new diesel engine will be available later in the truck’s production cycle.

How much horsepower does the new Ford diesel engine have?

Exact figures for the new turbo diesel engine for the 2018 F-150 haven’t been released yet. Ford is not in the business of ceding ground to its competitors. Both Ram and General Motors have diesel-powered trucks. The new Ford diesel engine will, at the minimum, be competitive with its rivals. The diesel V-6 engine will be a very efficient option for owners with higher-than-usual capability needs.

Houston Ford customers that really want to see a marriage between the inherent capability of the F-150 with maximum fuel-efficiency scores will be excited for the truck’s hybrid version to be released in 2020.
