Car shoppers considering the 2018 Ford Mustang will have two engine options to choose from. The newest version of the car delivers continues to deliver impressive sports car capabilities. All of this starts with the 2018 Ford Mustang engine options and performance.
New Mustang Standard Engine
Standard equipment for the 2018 Mustang will now include Ford’s 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine. This turbocharged power source produces 310 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque.
By turbocharging a smaller, four-cylinder engine, the 2018 Mustang is able to deliver impressive fuel economy ratings. The EcoBoost Mustang can earn up to an estimated 25 miles per gallon in the city and 32 miles per gallon on the highways.
These numbers are both increases over the previous Mustang model. A key factor helping to improve the fuel economy ratings is Ford’s new 10-speed automatic transmission. The Mustang can be equipped with either this automatic transmission, or a 6-speed manual transmission.
Mustang models equipped with the EcoBoost Performance Pack will be rated at up to 20 miles per gallon in the city and 29 miles per gallon on the highways.

2018 Mustang V-8 Engine Performance
In addition to the base four-cylinder engine, the 2018 Mustang can be equipped with a 5.0-liter V-8 engine. This engine will increase the performance numbers produced by the 2018 Mustang to 460 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque. Fuel economy numbers for the V-8 engine will check in at an estimated 16 miles per gallon in the city and 25 miles per gallon on the highways.
