You know how obnoxious winter can be. Oh boy, do you ever. Living in Minnesota provides endless beauty, but the winter months, as fun as they can be, are also filled with endless hassles when it comes to driving. You know the drill. You’ve finished your day at work, but it has been snowing. You just want to go home, but your vehicle is covered in the white powdery wet stuff. You try to brush it all off and scrape off what you can, but sure enough, when you turn on your wipers, it’s nothing but streaks and clumps scattered across your windshield now. Ford has a way to avoid this problem. Read on for information about the 2017 Ford Escape windshield wiper de-icer.

The Ford SUV lineup is expanding.

How does the windshield wiper de-icer on the Ford Escape work?

The 2017 Ford Escape will have the option of a windshield wiper de-icer feature. No more chunks of ice being slapped around your windshield while you’re trying to drive away. The 2017 Escape will be the first Ford SUV in the United States to have this useful tool. But how does it work?

The base of the windshield is equipped with a heating element specifically for the narrow area occupied by the windshield wipers as they are in the resting position. This heating system clears light snow and ice from the blades in under 10 minutes in as cold as negative 18 degrees Fahrenheit. Drivers of the new Escape equipped with SYNC Connect can activate the de-icer from their smartphone. Watch a demonstration below.

In addition to the 2017 Ford Escape, the feature is available in Canada, but will be rolled out to other vehicles in the Ford lineup as time wears on. So even if you are looking for a different Ford vehicle and would like to use this feature, you may be in luck! Keep an eye on the Houston Ford blog for more updates as they arrive!
